After 14-years of fighting the US EPA's shut-down after shut-down, it is now possible for ZymeAway to conduct the needed testing to secure EPA registration for our enzyme cleaner.
Our fight is about a safe and versatile enzyme cleaner (originally called SporiCLEAN from 2007 to June 2009) and changed to ZymeAway in August 2009.
My name is Nick Martello, I am a veteran and owner of a business called ZymeAway LLC. We are located in Westlake, Ohio and our enzyme product is proudly Made in America.
Our enzyme cleaner consistently outperformed the top toxic household cleaners for over 14-years, while being completely safe to people, pets, and our environment. Our enzymes are organic and 100% Biodegradable. The effectiveness of our product has been validated in EPA accredited laboratories and mentioned on TV, Radio, Newsprint, and the Internet.
DID YOU KNOW? Every day more than 300 children (109,500 a year) are treated in the U.S., and two die from poisoning (730 children die each year) according to the CDC. This is largely from ingesting personal care products, like cosmetics or household cleaning supplies.
I never imagined we would ever need to ask for financial assistance, but our battle, as explained here, will reveal the malicious and targeted chain of three events, perpetrated by the EPA. We need to have EPA registration in order to help “Stop Toxic Household Cleaners from Poisoning American Lives!”
First Event: In June 2009, the US-EPA shut down the production and sale of our safe and effective enzyme cleaner stating it was an “Unregistered Pesticide.” I replied that it is [not] a toxic pesticide, it is a safe all-natural enzyme cleaner. The EPA said they own the terms; Kill, Destroy, Eliminate, Prevent, and several additional synonyms, and if you “sell a product” using any of those terms, you must be EPA registered, and you are not registered.
Their insensitive shutdown action closed our 3-year growing small business while confiscating and discarding all products from retail stores nationwide. We were stopped from selling our safe, non-toxic, and effective mold & bacteria enzyme cleaner called SporiCLEAN, and our SporiCLEAN.org 501(c)(3) charity established to support Disabled American Veterans & Homeless Veterans!
In August 2009, we established our new company ZymeAway with the same safe and effective enzyme formula. This time, we used the EPA’s approved term "Cleans Away" mold and bacteria on all washable surfaces.
Second Event: Four years later in 2013, the EPA shut down our enzyme cleaner and again had all products "discarded" from retail shelves for using the previously EPA approved term "Cleans Away" mold and bacteria. This now confirmed targeting and abuse of power to stop the sale of our safe and non-toxic product – by cunningly changing an already approved term!
In 2012, the EPA edited their regulation that had approved “Cleans Away” and with purposeful intent created the new term “Cleans Away Mold Stain,” and we were no longer allowed to mention bacteria or insects unless we were registered. Our sales dramatically declined because the consumer needed to know that ZymeAway would safely and effectively “Clean Away” mold and bacteria.
In 2020, the COVID19 pandemic hit the world and soaps were the primary handwashing product recommended. Our “protease enzyme” was submitted to one of our country’s leading enzymologists who replied that our protease enzyme is a Cysteine Protein which means it could safely break down the COVID family of viruses.
In March 2020, we shared that ZymeAway was a safe and effective enzyme soap that could be used whenever you traveled or went shopping. You simply spray our [safe] enzyme solution onto your hands to wash them, or your shopping cart handles, and all other washable surfaces you may believe a concern.
Third Event: Six months later in September 2020, the EPA again stopped ZymeAway sales and this time, from using the term [Soap] to clean viruses from your hands and other surfaces. They said ZymeAway did not meet the EPA’s definition of Soap. This malicious action denied us any hope of establishing ZymeAway as a safe, non-toxic, and effective enzyme soap, capable of cleaning away viruses from all washable surfaces. Our sales dropped to our lowest level in 14 years.
The following month, October 2020, I researched the EPA’s Biochemical Regulations and after reviewing several pages, I noticed the EPA finally acknowledged “Enzymes.” This now opened the opportunity for ZymeAway to move forward with EPA registration protocol. We now need help to reach the necessary costs for testing as shown below.
Please Note: ZymeAway is completely safe to people, pets, and our environment. Our enzymes are 100% Organic and Biodegradable.
We are asking for your donation in any amount you can afford. Our business has continued to fight these shutdowns for over 14 years, but we are finally able to achieve EPA registration. We would like to ask if you would share this fundraiser with family, friends, co-workers, and Social Media contacts, to further assist in spreading awareness. I Sincerely Thank You!
